Canadian Flour Recall Expanded Again by Ardent Mills: Robin Hood®, Brodie™, Golden Temple®, Purity®, and Ardent Mills Brands Impacted

May 26, 2017 -  The Canadian flour recall warning issued on March 28, 2017, has been expanded again by Ardent Mills and the Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) as a result of its ongoing investigation into possible E. coli O121 contamination of various brands of flour and flour products.

Consumer safety and product quality are of paramount importance to our Company. We continue to closely monitor this matter, and support the ongoing investigation by CFIA and Ardent Mills.

Our understanding is that the CFIA’s investigation has been expanded again to include flour products manufactured by Ardent Mills from specific shipments of wheat during certain production dates. As a result, Ardent Mills has recalled various brands of flour and flour products. Limited production codes of Smucker Foods of Canada Corp. brands Robin Hood®, Brodie™, Golden Temple®, Purity® and , as well as Ardent Mills’ brands have been impacted.

It is important to note that flour is made from wheat that is minimally processed. In addition, the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) has provided guidance on general flour usage:

  • Do not taste raw dough or batter. Eating a small amount could make you sick.
  • Bake or cook items made with raw dough or batter before eating them.
  • Always use hot water and soap to wash any bowls, utensils, or surfaces flour was used on.
  • Wash your hands with soap and warm water immediately after touching flour, raw dough or batter.
