  • 1 1/4 cups water
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 cup raisins
  • 1/2 cup All Vegetable shortening
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp allspice
  • 1/2 tsp nutmeg
  • 2 cups Robin Hood® Original All Purpose Flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • Preheat oven to 350ºF (180ºC). Grease a 9” x 5” (23 cm x 13 cm) loaf pan.
  • Combine water, sugar, raisins, shortening and spices in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Boil for 5 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and cool to room temperature.
  • Add the remaining ingredients to the raisin mixture and stir well. Pour into prepared pan.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes or until firm.
  • Cool for 30 minutes, then remove from pan and cool completely on a cooling rack.
