Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup cup basmati rice
  • 4 cups whole milk
  • 1/2 cup Eagle Brand® Sweetened Condensed Milk
  • 1/4 tsp cardamom powder
  • 10-12 saffron strands (soaked in 1 tbsp warm milk)
  • 2 tbsp chopped nuts (almonds, pistachios)

  • Step 1: Cook rice.
  • Rinse rice and boil in 2 cups water until soft. Drain excess water.
  • Step 2: Simmer milk.
  • Heat milk in a heavy pot. Add cooked rice and simmer on low heat, stirring often, until milk reduces by half (~25 mins).
  • Step 3: Sweeten & flavour.
  • Add condensed milk, cardamom, and saffron. Stir well and cook 5 more minutes.
  • Step 4: Garnish & serve.
  • Top with nuts. Serve warm or chilled.
