  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk or sour milk
  • 3 cups Robin Hood® Original All Purpose Flour
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • Icing sugar, optional

  • Preheat oven to 350 ºF (180 ºC). Grease a 10" (4L) tube pan.
  • Cream butter and sugar in large bowl of electric mixer until light and fluffy. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat well. Add buttermilk and stir until combined.
  • Add flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt. Mix well. Fold in chocolate chips.
  • Pour batter into prepared pan.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes or until toothpick inserted in centre comes out clean. Cool in pan for 15 minutes. Invert onto cake plate and cool completely. Dust with icing sugar.
