  • 2 cups Robin Hood® All Purpose Whole Wheat Flour
  • 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup All Vegetable Shortening
  • 1 1/2 cups grated cheddar cheese
  • 6 slices, cooked crisp and diced bacon
  • 1 tbsp chopped green onion
  • 1 cup low fat plain yogurt

  • Preheat oven to 450ºF (230ºC). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Combine flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt in large mixing bowl. Cut in shortening with pastry blender or two knives until mixture resembles coarse meal. Stir in cheese, bacon and green onion. Mix well. Add yogurt all at once to dry ingredients, stirring to moisten.
  • Turn out onto lightly floured surface and knead 10 to 15 times to form a smooth dough; mixture will be crumbly at first and comes together when kneaded. Roll out or pat to an 8" (20 cm) square.
  • Cut in half lengthwise, then cut each half into 6 rectangles. Place on prepared baking sheet.
  • Bake in preheated oven for 10 to 15 minutes, or until golden. Serve warm.
