Chewy Chocolatey Brownies

Makes:about 25 brownies

So rich, so chewy and so chocolatey, there’s nothing quite like a big bite of these classic brownies. Who could say no?


½ cup 125 mL butter
3 oz 85 g unsweetened chocolate
1¼ cups 300 mL granulated sugar
1 tsp 5 mL vanilla extract
3 egg
⅔ cup 150 mL Robin Hood® Original All Purpose Flour
½ tsp 2 mL baking powder
½ tsp 2 mL salt
½ cup 125 mL chopped nuts
Chocolate icing (optional)


  1. Preheat oven to 350 ºF (180 ºC). Grease a 9" (2.5 L) square cake pan.
  2. Melt butter and chocolate in saucepan on low heat, stirring until smoothly blended. Remove from heat and add sugar, vanilla and eggs. Beat well.
  3. Combine flour, baking powder and salt in medium mixing bowl. Add to chocolate mixture, stirring until well blended. Stir in nuts.
  4. Spread in prepared pan.
  5. Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool. Frost if desired and cut into squares.
