Bake a little love for your sweethearts on Valentine's Day with these irresistable cookies. Try them warm too.

1 2/3 cups

ROBIN HOOD® All Purpose Flour

400 mL

1/3 cup

cocoa powder

75 mL

1 tsp

baking soda

5 mL

1/2 tsp

salt

2 mL

1 cup

butter, softened

250 mL

3/4 cup

brown sugar, packed

175 mL

1/2 cup

granulated sugar

125 mL

1

egg

1

2 tsp

vanilla

10 mL

2 cups

semi-sweet chocolate, chopped

500 mL

1 cup

pecans, coarsely chopped

250 mL

 

Preparation


Preheat oven to 375ºF (190ºC) and grease cookie sheet.


Stir together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt.


Cream butter in large bowl on medium speed of electric mixer until light. Gradually beat in sugar, egg and vanilla until smooth. Blend in dry ingredients on low speed. Mix well. Stir in chocolate and nuts.


Drop dough by tablespoonfuls (15 mL) about 2 inches (5 cm) apart on prepared cookie sheet.


Bake for 8-10 minutes or until set. Cool 5 minutes on sheet, then transfer to rack and cool completely.


Variation


Vary the kind of chocolate and nuts to suit your taste.
