Chocolate makes everything taste better! This classic buttermilk pancake recipe is filled with chocolate chips for extra deliciousness.

2 cups 500 mL buttermilk
2 eggs
¼ cup 50 mL butter, melted
1 tsp 5 mL vanilla extract
2 cups 500 mL Robin Hood® Original All Purpose Flour
¼ cup 50 mL granulated sugar
2 ¼ tsp 11 mL baking powder
½ tsp 2 mL baking soda
½ tsp 2 mL salt
1 cup 250 mL semi-sweet or milk chocolate chips

  1. Whisk buttermilk, eggs, melted butter and vanilla in a large bowl. Stir dry ingredients and stir into liquid mixture. Do not over mix. Batter can be lumpy. Fold in chocolate chips.
  2. Melt butter over medium-high heat in a large non-stick skillet. Ladle ¼ cup (50mL) into the hot skillet. When bubbles appear on the surface of the pancakes and the shine disappears, about 3 minutes, flip the pancakes and cook the other side for about 2 minutes.

  • To make heart-shaped pancakes, just lightly butter a metal heart-shaped cookie cutter in the pan and ladle in the batter. Gently remove the cookie cutter when pancake is ready to flip.
  • Replace the chocolate chips with blueberries or just leave them plain.
