These mouth-watering buttermilk biscuits may be simple, but take a bite and you’ll taste that there’s nothing plain about them.

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups 375 mL Robin Hood® Nutri Flour BlendTM Tastes Like White
1/4 cup 50 mL granulated sugar
1 tsp 5 mL baking powder
1/2 tsp 2 mL baking soda
1/2 tsp 2 mL salt
1/4 cup 50 mL Crisco® All Vegetable Shortening
3/4 cup 175 mL buttermilk

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 400ºF (200ºC). Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Combine dry ingredients in medium sized bowl. Add shortening and mix with fork or hands until mixture resembles small peas. Add buttermilk all at once and mix until combined.
  3. Drop by ¼ cupfuls (50mL) onto prepared baking sheet.
  4. Bake in preheated oven for 15 to 18 minutes or until puffed and golden brown. Serve warm with jam.
