Bake and Break Toffee Brittle

With crunchy toffee bits and chocolate chips, this deliciously crispy treat tastes great any time of year. Store some in your freezer for a snack that’s ready when you are.


¾ cup 175mL butter, melted
1/3 cup 75mL granulated sugar
1/3 cup 75mL packed brown sugar
1 tsp 5mL vanilla extract
1 3/4 cup 425mL Robin Hood® Original All Purpose Flour
½ tsp 2mL baking soda
½ tsp 2mL ground cinnamon
¼ tsp 1mL salt
1 ½ cups 375mL toffee bits
1 cup 250mL milk, white or semi-sweet chocolate chips


  1. Preheat oven to 350ºF (180ºC). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Beat melted butter, sugars and vanilla until well combined in large mixing bowl. Beat in next 4 ingredients until incorporated. Add toffee bits and chocolate chips.
  3. Firmly press dough to 1/4” thickness on prepared pan. The dough should measure approximately 11” x 15” (28cm x 38cm).
  4. Bake in preheated oven for 15 to 18 minutes. Let cool until firm. Break or cut into 2” (5cm pieces. Freeze in plastic freezer bag or air tight container.


  • Use whatever chocolate you have. You can also use a combination of different chocolate.
  • Bake a few batches to have on hand during the holiday season.
