Green Tea Honey Bites

Fragrant green tea and sweet honey combine to make a treat that tastes great any time of day. They’re topped with a delicious icing sugar and green tea glaze.

Ingredients

Cake

2 eggs
¼ cup 50 mL granulated sugar
¼ cup 50 mL packed brown sugar
½ cup 125 mL Crisco® Canola or Vegetable Oil
½ cup 125 mL honey
1 ½ cups 375 mL Robin Hood® Original All Purpose Flour
¾ tsp 3 mL baking powder
¼ tsp 1 mL baking soda
1 ½ tsp 7 mL ground cinnamon
¼ tsp 1 mL ground nutmeg
½ cup 125 mL strong green tea, cold

Glaze

1 cup 250 mL icing sugar
3 tbsp 45 mL green tea, cold

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350 °F (180 °C). Lightly grease or line 48 mini muffin pans.
  2. Cake : Beat eggs and sugars well in large mixing bowl of electric mixer. Add oil and honey, mix well.
  3. Combine dry ingredients in a separate bowl. Add half of dry mixture to wet ingredients. Add cold tea and then remaining ingredients. Pour batter into prepared mini muffin pans.
  4. Bake in preheated oven for 12 to 15 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into centre of cake comes out clean.
  5. Glaze: Combine, when bites have cooled, icing sugar and green tea. Drizzle over bites.

Tips

  • Use 4 tea bags for stronger tea
