Streusel Coffee Cake

This coffee cake that’s lightly spiced with orange and vanilla flavour is quick, easy and delicious! The streusel topping is a yummy mixture that includes brown sugar, walnuts and cinnamon.


Streusel Topping

½ cup 125 mL packed brown sugar
½ cup 125 mL chopped walnuts
2 tbsp 30 mL Robin Hood® Original All Purpose Flour
2 tbsp 30 mL Crisco® Canola or Vegetable Oil
2 tsp 10 mL cinnamon


¾ cup 175 mL sugar
1/3 cup 75 mL Crisco Canola or Vegetable Oil
1 egg
½ cup 125 mL orange juice
1 tsp 5 mL vanilla extract
1 ½ cups 375 mL Robin Hood Original All Purpose Flour
2 tsp 10 mL baking powder


  1. Preheat oven to 375ºF (190ºC). Grease an 8 ½” x 4 ½” (1.5 L) loaf pan.
  2. Combine ingredients for streusel topping in a small bowl. Reserve.
  3. Beat sugar and oil until combined in a large mixing bowl. Add egg, orange juice and vanilla. Beat well. Add flour and baking powder. Beat just until combined.
  4. Pour half the batter into prepared pan. Sprinkle half the streusel topping over batter. Place remaining batter on top. Sprinkle with remaining streusel mixture.
  5. Bake in preheated oven for 45 to 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center of cake comes out clean.


  • You can replace the walnuts with raisins or dried cranberries.
