This cake is so moist and delicious it doesn’t even need any frosting! That makes it easy for packing in your kids' lunch boxes along with a piece of fruit and carton of milk.

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups 375 mL Robin Hood® Original All Purpose Flour
1 cup 250 mL granulated sugar
1/4 cup 50 mL cocoa powder, sifted
1 tsp 5 mL baking powder
1 tsp 5 mL baking soda
1/2 tsp 2 mL salt
1 cup 250 mL warm water
1/3 cup 75 mL Crisco® Vegetable or Canola Oil
1 tbsp 15 mL vinegar

Directions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Grease an 8” (20 cm) square cake pan.
  2. Combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt in large mixing bowl. Add water, oil and vinegar. Whisk together until smooth. Spread in prepared pan.
  3. Bake in preheated oven for 35 to 40 minutes or until top springs back when lightly touched.

Tips

  • For a dessert, try it with ice cream or one of your favourite frostings.
