Maple Walnut Granola

This great tasting granola combines large flake oats with coconut, walnut halves, cashews and maple syrup. It’s easy to prepare and is delicious at breakfast.


4 cups 1 L Robin Hood® Oats
1 cup 250 mL sweetened, shredded coconut
1 1/2 cups 375 mL walnut halves
1/2 cup 125 mL cashews
1 tsp 5 mL cinnamon
1/4 cup 50 mL Crisco® Canola Oil
1/2 cup 125 mL real maple syrup


  1. Preheat oven to 325ºF (160ºC).
  2. Combine, oats, coconut, walnuts, cashews and cinnamon in large bowl.
  3. Drizzle oil on large rimmed baking sheet. Place in oven as it preheats for about 10 minutes, or until warm. Meanwhile, heat maple syrup in microwave or on stove in small saucepan until hot.
  4. Remove baking sheet from oven and place oat mixture on sheet. Stir mixture so that it is evenly coated with oil. Pour hot syrup over mixture and stir to combine.
  5. Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes, stirring every 5 to 10 minutes, until mixture is evenly browned. Remove from oven and cool. Store in airtight container.


  • When making granola, be sure to leave walnut halves, cashews and other nuts whole. Chopping them into small pieces will cause them to over-brown during baking!
  • Granola is a hearty breakfast food that doubles-up as a fabulous snack food as well. Take some along if you are taking a fitness walk or hike.
