  • 8 cups Crisco® Vegetable or Canola Oil for frying
  • 2 cups Robin Hood® Original All Purpose Flour
  • ½ cup sugar
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ¼ cup butter, melted
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 1/4 cups berries
  • Topping

Directions

  • Heat oil to 325°F (160°C) in deep fryer or large saucepan.
  • Combine flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a medium bowl. Combine eggs, buttermilk, butter and vanilla in a separate bowl. Add to dry ingredients. Stir to combine. Gently add berries
  • Drop about 1 tbsp (15 mL) batter into hot oil. Only fry about 3 to 4 fritters at the same time. Cook about 1 ½ to 2 minutes per side until golden brown. Drain on paper towels. Immediately toss into sugar.
